Word problem 2-Ticks

Dylan, Devansh, Alexis and Zaheer were talking and comparing how many ticks they had accumulated for the first two weeks of term 4. Dylan had 24 ticks, Alexis had 19 ticks, Devansh had 24 and Zaheer had 12.

Devansh and Dylan thought they had more, However Alexis thought she had equally as much. Zaheer said that he was away sick so he did not have as many as the others.

  1. What was the total of all four children ticks put together?
  2. Who had more ticks than the others? By how much?
  3. What was the difference in total between Dylan with Devansh VS Alexis with Zaheer?
      1. 24x2= 48, 19+12=31, 31+48=79.
      2. Dylan tied with devansh on 24 and bet Alexis by 5 and Zaheer by 12.
      3. 48-31=17

Word problem 1-bins

Ariana and Teileh empty the room 24 bins in term 3, twice a week.

In week 8 they counted 243 pieces of paper on Wednesday and 199 pieces on Friday.
In week 9 they counted 312 pieces of paper on Wednesday and 209 pieces of Friday.
What to find out:

  1.  How many pieces of paper were collected in week 8?
  2.  How many pieces of paper were collected in week 9?
  3. What was the difference between week 8 and 9?
When they were sorting the bins in week in week 8 Ariana found 56 pieces of paper that had food on it so it had to go into the landfill. In week 9 Teileh found 64 pieces of paper that had paint on it that had to go into the landfill. how much paper actually went into the recycle bin for both weeks?

442-56=386 512-64=448 386+448=834

Sir Edmund Hillary

My Reflection

I was learning about Sir Edmund Hillary. I found this work challenging. One thing I did well I this was jotting down notes because I knew which ones I would need. One thing I could do better was make the facts more interesting. Over all I thought  I did well!

Impromptu Speech Writing

My reflection
I was learning to Write an Impromptu Speech. I found this work interesting... One thing I did well was making it quite funny and lured you in to read it. One thing I could do better is put more thoughts and feelings into it.

Welcome post 2017

Welcome to my learning blog for year 5 in 2017. This year I am in room 24. My teacher is Miss Hughes. I enjoy being a peer mediator and having Miss Hughes as a teacher when she makes it not feel like school. My goal for this year is to get a gold certificate or two! I am looking forward to being a Digi kid this year if I am one! I hope you enjoy my blog and leave some feedback for me!-Anthony Roke.
